Challenge Soccer (U11-U14, Boys and Girls)The Fayetteville Soccer Club offers a well rounded experience in competitive soccer for boys and girls. The Challenge Soccer League is to provide an environment in which the level of competition, commitment, and development falls between that of Recreation and Classic Leagues. The Challenge division is open to players 11-14 years of age. Challenge teams compete against other Challenge teams from the leagues and clubs associated with Triangle Area Development League (TADL). The Challenge program allows for players to develop beyond the Recreational level to play at a more competitive level with limited travel to and from games.
The FSC Challenge program is a competitive level of play and therefore by USYS and USSF standards, tryouts are conducted to form the teams. Players that are interested in playing competitive soccer must attend tryouts that are held each May at the Jordan Soccer Complex.
Season and Training
Challenge teams play a fall and spring season. If chosen for a team, the player is expected to play BOTH the fall and spring seasons. Games can be played on either Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Teams will play between 8-10 games per season.
Players will train twice a week for 1 1/2 hours per session. The fall season is from August-November and the spring season is from January-May.
Games, Tournaments, and Travel
Challenge teams will play in the TADL scheduling league. Home games are played at the Jordan Soccer Complex. Teams will travel to the away games. The travel radius to away games is approximately 60 miles. Games are played on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Challenge teams may in tournaments during the season. Tournaments usually require overnight lodging.
Development is accomplished through player commitment to the team and training. Challenge coaches are encouraged to utilize players in competition based on the player's commitment and role on the team. Once players are selected for a team, players are expected to fulfill their commitment to themselves, to their team and to FSC for the duration of the year.
The fee structure for all travel teams will be posted each season. Players and their families are responsible for their own uniforms, travel costs and tournament costs.
